We found 5 yearlings, 219, 220, 221, 226, and 242 near the gate to Camp 45 hoovering up acorns.
As we were passing the Severn Trent compound 219 was taking a close interest in the van and the paper sacks being loaded into it. Having shooed it away and warned the chap that he might want to close the gate to keep the cows out 242 got in and wouldn't leave. The rest, now join by 033 and 217, got in too. It took about 20 mins to get all except 242 out. Hades didn't respond to any of our efforts, pushing past us, knocking into us. No amount of hands in the air and walking forward was have an affect. I used a stick to help guide the others out but it was to rotten to do more than tap Hades backside who by this point was chewing on a piece of mortar, his eyes rolled back. Without any other idea of what to do we just kept at it, doing our best to get his attention. He eventually spat the mortar out and decided to step back over the low wall and onto the tarmac heading towards the gate only to stop and have a chew on a tree. Luckily we then got him out of the gate without much more fuss.
The van driver said he didn't know what he would of done if we haven't been there but will close the gate in future.
Please could someone write to the water people and ask them to advise their van drivers to close the gates while they are inside these compounds.
We later found the same 7 in the lake car park where 226 was licking a bbq.
We saw none of the others. Stay Safe, Marina & Des
Hi Marina, I have since checked Hades today and he seems fine. He has always been rather disinterested in people trying to push him on account of his hand rearing as a calf!
