Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 23rd August - All 19 seen - 10 Gelvert / 9 Caesar's

Earlier this morning I discovered that cows 214, 215, 217, 219, 228, 230, 234, 270 and 271 had escaped from Gelvert last night and were all back enjoying life on Caesar's Camp. They were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud in the area around ///bottle.rainy.tens at 10.30. Youngster 217 was slightly away from the others, lying down under the shade of the trees. All nine were fine. I made Harry at HIWWT aware that they were on Caesar's.

The same nine cows were happily munching on fresh grass in the area around ///dads.gave.dizzy at 17.45 this evening. They were all very relaxed and seemed to be enjoying the warm sunshine. Cow 215 decided to wander over and say hello and receive an ear rub while standing chewing her cud.

Had a nice walk through Caesar's Camp and into Gelvert, where I met cow 72 and youngster 222 munching on grass in the area around ///join.bliss.discussed at 18.45. Steer 227 came wandering along the path from a westerly direction to join them. Steers 20, 21 and 33 were all found a bit further along, munching on leaves in the thicket just off the main path. Steer 35 emerged from the thicket a bit further south of them and started to eat some longer grass.

Steer 30 was found eating deep in the thicket around ///conned.nasal.stunt at 19:10. I caught sight of him in the distance from the main path. Youngster 220 and older cow 940 were grazing together close by, around ///chap.office.evenly a short time later. As I emerged from the thicket, steer 33 had made his way to the path located north-east of where I had discovered the previous two, where he was happily munching on some grass.

The cows were all good tonight.
