Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Wednesday 31st August - All 25 seen

    Yearlings 244, 245, 247, 248 and 257 were found grazing in the thicket around ///seducing.orbit.siblings at 16:35 this afternoon.

    Six of the older cows, the ten youngsters and the other three yearlings were all found in the area around ///lunge.lemons.exhaling at 17:50.  Cows 217, 222, 228, 230 and 940 were all lying down relaxing.  The others were mainly stood chewing their cud, but some soon lay down beside them.

    Older cow 33 was eventually found another thirty minutes later munching on leaves around ///complies.assets.daisy.  He had obviously wandered off from the others in his quest to find tasty dinner.  He certainly wasn't shy in pulling down tree branches to get to the best leaves!

    All the cows were good today.

    Monday 29th August. Only 8 seen

     At 09.48 we found the 8 around ///suckle.ribcage.sides. 940 was having a high old time bring down rowan sapling and, with the help of 221, eating the leaves and any berries left. 230, 238, 219, 222, 228, and 226 were grazing the sides of the path. They were heading in the general direction of Ceasers Camp.

    Sunday 28th August - All 25 seen

    Yearlings 241, 242, 244 and 247 emerged from the trees at the side of the large lake and started grazing the area in front of the car park at the fishing hut at 08:55 this morning.  Yearlings 238, 245, 248 and 257 plus youngsters 222 and 230 were found grazing in the same trees.

    The other fifteen cows were found in the swampy area around ///model.asked.tinny a short while later.  They were all busy grazing in the sunshine.  Cow 30 climbed up to the footpath to get easier access to the leaves he was munching on.

    All the cows were good this morning.

    Saturday 27th August - All 25 seen

    Cows 220 and 257 were seen grazing along the side of the path around ///wand.comical.variously at 09:40 this morning.  A mixed group of twenty were all happily grazing in the area around ///drizzly.flippers.switched.  They were fairly widely spread out.  Older cow 940 decided to take a little break and have a sit down in the sunshine.  I've no idea what yearling 238 had been up to, but she had thick mud on her legs up to above her knees!

    Youngsters 213, 219 and 230 came wandering down the side of the large fishing lake at 10:15.  They had a bit of a graze and a drink of water before heading over to meet up with the others.  

    All the cows were good this morning.

    Friday 26th August Saw 22, not seen are 021, 030, and 072

    We saw 22 on the open area down towards the Bourley Road from the large lake, ///replays.afterglow.stop. They were grazing and starting to lie down, and one of the long horns was grooming a youngster. They looked well but of the other 3 there was no sign. Stay Safe, Marina & Des

    Wednesday 24th August - All 25 seen

    Cows 21, 213 and 235 were found grazing in the area around ///stall.doted.fuels at 16:30 this afternoon. A mixed group of ten were grazing in the area around ///repaid.redeeming.plastic and another eleven across the path around ///radiated.nuzzling.bring.

    Yearling 242 finally made an appearance at 17:20 when he emerged from the trees at the top of the hill at ///remaining.swatting.error, before wandering down a small track to join the others, grazing as he went. The cows all came together in a single group and continued grazing in the sunshine. All the cows were good.

    Monday 22nd August All 25 seen

     At 09.25 we saw 5 youngsters and 1 older cow in the bracken around ///busters.cheetahs.alien. We found the others, pretty much where they were Friday, mostly in the thicket to the right of the gate onto Camp 45 and some across the way in the Holly on the other side of the stream. Three of the youngsters were picking up the acorns in the triangle where the 3 paths meet. The 6 we had seen on the hill side came to join the thicket group. All looked well.     Sunday 21st August - All 25 seen

    All twenty-five cows were seen in the area around ///hotel.solicitor.otters at 09:25 this morning.  They were all happily grazing except for cow 33 who was lying down relaxing.  After having their breakfast, the others also lay down and started chewing their cud.  Cows 226 and 230 had buried themselves in some bracken.  Lovely to see them all together in one of their original haunts. 

    All the cows were good today.
