Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 29th July - All 19 seen - Five mini scramblers on the site

Steer 30 and yearling 270 were busy grazing in the area around ///steep.losing.rudder at 10.30 this morning.  Steer 21 was lying down between them, relaxing and chewing his cud.   Cow 214 was lying down chewing her cud with cow 215 standing beside her.  They were all very relaxed.

Cows 20, 72, 234 and 940 were standing, relaxing and chewing their cud among the trees around ///estimates.repay.booth a short time later. Youngster 220 was lying down, resting and chewing his cud.

After a long walk around the site trying to find the other nine steers, I looped back around at 12:45 to find the first ten had joined up and were grazing in the thicket around ///risky.acids.stars.   They were well spread out, but were all munching away happily.

Eventually found the other nine steers under the trees in the area around ///upward.gambles.spinners at 13.00.  Older steer 33 was initially standing, chewing his cud.  He soon had a good scratch against one of the trees and then lay down.  The other eight were all lying down, relaxing and chewing their cud.  Youngsters 217 and 219 plus yearling 271 had a huge amount of flies on their faces today and were constantly trying to get rid of them.

Five mini scrambler motorbikes crossed over from Caesar's into Gelvert via the cattle grid nearest Beacon Hill Road at around noon.  I found them at 12:30 in the area around ///super.soaps.power where they had stopped for a break.   I didn't see any registration numbers on the bikes and didn't want to take any photos just in case they got upset.   They continued to ride around the site on and off for another hour.

The cows were all good today.
