Monday 8th May - All 13 seen - cows all being bothered by flies

Youngsters 219 and 228 were standing on the path around ///nearly.hotdog.unfit at 13:50 this afternoon.  Sadly, their faces were covered in flies despite their best efforts to get rid of them.  The other eleven were all hiding amongst the trees.  They all slowly started to lie down and chew their cud except cows 35 and 940 who remained standing.

By 14:15 youngsters 219 and 228 had lay down around ///duck.boomer.refills and were joined by older cows 21 and 33 who wandered out from the trees to lie down near them.

Fully appreciate that flies are part of a cow's life, but there were lots of them around again today and the cows were very uncomfortable.  Are they due to be sprayed soon?  Other than that, the cows were all good today.

The cows were all good today.

    Saturday 6th May - All 13 seen

Despite the light rain, a mixed group of eleven cows were all busy grazing in the area around ///likes.supper.mural at 15:55 this afternoon. Youngsters 228 and 230 were preferring to munch amongst the nearby trees. They all continued to graze, slowly making their way around to the area in front of the stream. A few took the opportunity to have a drink before getting back to munching. The cows were all good today.

    Goodbye Girls

Some of my last photos of the lovely Ginge (213), Gurgle (221), Galadriel (226) and Goldilocks (235) taken on Thursday evening before they left Camp 45 for pastures new.  Seeing them all grow up since they first arrived back in July 2021 has been wonderful.  They will all be greatly missed :-(.

    Friday 5th May - 13 seen - not seen 213, 221, 226 and 235

Cows 21, 30, 33, 35, 217, 219, 222, 228, 230 and 940 were all busy grazing on the long grass in the area around ///trick.ounce.never at 17:50 this evening.  Older cows 20 and 72 plus youngster 220 were standing among the trees around ///reap.ribcage.drops not doing much of anything.

    Oddly, I wasn't able to find youngers 213, 221, 226 or 235.

It appears cows 35, 72 and 940 are all sporting new ear tags.

Older cows 20 and 72 plus youngster 217 have been fitted with tracking collars.  They didn't seem very impressed with them, with youngster 217 trying numerous times to shake his off, while older cows 20 and 72 were trying to get theirs off by rubbing against tree branches.  Hopefully they'll get used to them soon.

The cows all went for a loop around Camp 45, munching on grass and stopping off for a drink at the stream, before returning to where they started.  Cow 72 never ventured out from the cover of the trees.  She appeared OK, but was not her usual self.

    Thursday 4th May - All 17 seen

A mixed group of twelve cows were all lying down, relaxing in the area around ///replace.blows.rules at 17:35 this evening.  They were all resting or chewing their cud.  Unfortunately, there were many flies again today.  Cows 35, 221, 217 and 228 were all happily grazing on the lovely long grass.  Youngster 219 wandered over from the stream and joined the four who were grazing.

By 18:00 all the cows had got up and all seventeen went off grazing together on a slow loop of the site.  They seemed to particularly enjoy the grass in the area around ///clown.dares.exotic and stayed there for quite a while.  They continued grazing until they ended up back where they started at 19:20.  Several of them then went for a drink of water at the stream.

The cows were all good this evening.

They were relaxing and enjoying the sunshine, but all had a lot of flies on their faces. Cows 30, 222 and 230 were lying down behind the main group, under the shade of the trees and bushes. Youngster 213 was having a good scratch on a tree branch before wandering out and lying down with the others. Older cows 20, 35, 72 and 940 plus youngster 235 were all standing in among the trees, chewing their cud. The cows were all good today.
